What Does ARIA Do?
THE RHODE ISLAND AUTHOR EXPO
Now in it’s 4th year, the Rhode Island Author Expo is Rhode Island’s premier literary event that attracts over 125 authors and 2,000 readers. The event features local celebrities, presentations, workshops and hundreds of signed books available for purchase.
ARIA AT RI COMIC CON
Our state’s top writers of fantasy, sci fi, horror and pop culture gather to present thier works to fans at RI Comic Con at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
THE LIVELY LITERATI
For the last three years, ARIA has hosted The Lively Literati at The Elephant Tea Room in Cranston’s historic Pawtuxet Village. On the last Thursday of each month, fans gather to listen to original poetry and prose from our state’s leading writers. And there’s even an opportunity for anyone to step up to the mic and share their own original piece.
SHORELINE – ANTHOLOGY
In the summer of 2016, ARIA released its first published anthology — shoreline — that presents nineteen of the best pieces of poetry, prose and other short works created by our members. The book is avaialble for sale online and at select bookstores. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of the book supports the activities of the organization.
BOSTON BOOK FESTIVAL
ARIA’s tent on Boylston Street near Copley Square has become a popular stop during the annual Boston Book Festival — New England’s largest literary event.
SCITUATE ART FESTIVAL
“Author’s Row,” behind the North Scituate Public Library, has become a must-see attraction at the annual Scituate Art Festival. Each year, over 30 authors participate across the Columbus Day Weekend that attracts 30,000 festival goers.
PVD FEST
Our members are proud stand beside all the other great arts organizations in our state. Here, our authors are participating in the annual PVDFest music and art festival in Providence’s Burnside Park.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR AUTHORS
Our organization attracts top publishing industry professionals — including editors, designers, agents and illustrators — to present and discuss emerging trends in the writing and publishing industry.
PUBLIC LIBRARY EVENTS
Our associtiation actively works with public libraries in Warwick, Tiverton, Greenwville, Westerly and many others to bring the best local authors to communities all over the state.
RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE HOMECOMING
Each October, several authors participate in Rhode Island College’s annual homecoming festivities by signing books and meeting with alumni and students.
WOMEN’S EXPO
ARIA authors regularly participate in expos and conferences, such as the Women’s Expo at Twin River in Lincoln.
ARIA AT NEIBA
ARIA represents Rhode Island’s authors to the national publishing community every year at the New England Independent Bookseller’s Association (NEIBA) Convention.
BARNES & NOBLE LOCAL AUTHOR EVENTS
ARIA frequently coordinates local author events at area Barnes & Noble stores.
SCITUATE FARMER’S MARKET
From May through October, ARIA authors sign and sell books at the North Scituate Farmer’s Market every Saturday.
INDEPENDENT PUBLISHERS OF NEW ENGLAND AWARDS

ARIA HELPS LAUNCH NEW JOHN BROWN HOUSE BOOKSTORE
ARIA was proud to help launch the new bookstore at the John Brown House in Providence. ARIA authors Julien Ayotte, Paul Caranci, Sebastian Cole, Carol Desforges, Colleen Kelly Mellor, Joann Mead, and Steven R. Porter, were on hand to sign and read from their works.
FOSTERINGARTS HOSTS ARIA AT “BOOKS & THE BOTTOMLESS BOWL”
On May 11th, an enthusiastic crowd welcomed eight ARIA authors for the first-ever “Books and the Bottomless Bowl” fundraiser sponsored by Fostering Arts and held at the South Foster Fire Station. Our thanks is extended to everyone involved for making this such a fun and successful night.
